“Voted best and biggest sandwich in Miami” by the Travel Channel, Sarussi’s is not for the faint of heart. This small, hole in the wall restaurant is located near the Coral Gables area, in Coral Terrace.
Don’t let it’s run down appearance fool you– for only $11.87 you can try the Sarussi Original, a giant 16 in Cuban sensation. Smoked ham, baked pork , mozzarella cheese, pickles, and their special secret sauce is slammed in between thick, crispy bread.
Adam Richman from the Travel Channel’s popular show Man vs. Food sure was– Sarussi’s was gathering such a following in the area that Richman caught wind of it, and decided to try and conquer the monstrous sandwich.
The Sarussi original contains approx. 20 slices of ham, 15 slices of roast pork, 8 slices of mozzarella cheese, and 6 slices of pickles. Want to know what exactly is in that ‘special sauce?’ We do to0– but looks like Sarussi employees won’t be passing along this delicious recipe anytime soon.
Sarussi’s menu extends beyond sandwiches. For lighter fare, try one of their salads, and they offer a variety of main dishes as well. They’re even open for breakfast.
